Pick of the week - 9 November 2010

Bolivia
Oriente Petrolero are stand alone leaders of the division after winning their midweek fixture and at the weekend. They beat Real Mamoré 2-0 on Thursday and bottom of the table Universitario 3-1 on Sunday.

Aurora won both of their fixture this week to take 2nd position, beating championship rivals Bolívar 3-2 on Thursday and leapfrogging San José on Sunday with a 4-1 win.

Chile
Colo-Colo dropped points again after a 2-2 draw with 3rd place Universidad de Chile, it could have been worse for the leaders they were 2-1 down until Javier Campora equalised in the 93rd minute. This meant that 2nd placed Universidad Cátolica have caught up four of the seven points they trailed by only two fixtures ago after their 1-3 away win against Unión San Felipe.

Colombia
With only one game left of the Colombian Clausura championship there are four teams with a chance of winning the championship. Three teams are tied on 33 points at the top Deportes Tolima have the best goal difference but missed their chance to take a 2 point lead into the last game after they could only scrape a 2-2Millonarios with a very late equaliser from Jorge Perlaza. They joined Once Caldas who beat América de Cali 3-1 with a hat-trick from Fernando Uribe and Atlético Nacional joined them at the top after a dramatic 3-1 win against La Equidad in which they went 0-1 down and had a player sent off, then in the 2nd half they scored three after their opponents were also reduced to 10 players. draw with

Santa Fe had been leading before going into this penultimate round of games but they are now 4th one point behind the leading pack after losing 2-0 away at Boyacá Chicó.

Atlético Huila's slim title chances are gone after a 1-1 draw in which they missed a penalty and conceded an equaliser to 10 man Independiente Medellín, they are 3 points behind the leaders, but with Deportes Tolima and Atlético Nacional facing each other in the last game they are mathematically out of the race.

Deportes Quindio are in the same position, 3 points behind the leaders but out of the title race after they beat Envigado 3-2.

Ecuador
The league championship seems to have been pretty much settled in favour of Liga de Quito after they beat their nearest title challengers Deportivo Cuenca 2-0 to go four points clear with a game in hand meaning that they would have to fail to win at least 3 of their last 4 games to lose the championship.

At the foot of the table Independiente gave themselves a chance of escaping a bottom of the table finish with a 0-2 away win against Macará who are now only one point above the bottom position. Espoli are also struggling near the foot of the table after a 2-0 defeat against Deportivo Quito.

Paraguay
The title race is wide open again in Paraguay after the leaders Libertad were beaten 2-0 by Guaraní. 2nd placed Cerro Porteño took full advantage beating Rubio Ñú 2-0 to close to within one point of Libertad.

Nacional beat Sport Colombia 4-3 in the highest scoring game of the day, Tres de Febrero came crashing back to earth after their 5 game unbeaten sequence was ended on their own pitch by Olimpia who won 0-3 and the bottom two sides Sport Trinidense and Sportivo Luqueño drew 2-2.

Peru
In group A Universidad San Martín drew 0-0 with 2nd placed José Galvez to keep their 8 point lead at the top of the table.

Group B is still wide open, Juan Aurich beat leaders León de Huánuco 1-0 with a late goal from William Chiroque to close to within one point of them, 3rd placed Alianza Atlético could only get a 1-1 draw against Melgar and 4th placed Sport Boys went down to a surprise 2-1 defeat against bottom of the table Cienciano.

Uruguay
Defensor Sporting Club are the sole leaders after a 0-3 away win against Racing Club, the co-leaders at the start of the weekend Peñarol are now 2 points behind in 2nd after they could only manage a 1-1 home draw against Rampla Juniors.

Nacional are in 3rd place after a 1-3 away win Centro Español and Danubio are 4th after beating bottom of the table Tacurembó 0-3.

Mid table Fénix put in the performance of the day beating Cerro 4-0.

Venezuela
The leaders Real Esppor kept their 6 point lead at the top with a 0-1 away win against Atlético Venezuelana. 2nd placed Deportivo Tachira won 3-1 agaist Deportivo Lara.

Bottom of the table Caroní suffered a humiliating 1-7 home defeat to Anzoátegui and there were also high scoring games between Carabobo and Zulia (2-3) and between Monagas and Deportivo Petore (2-4).
